It sounds to me as though he is talking about pressed steel rear wheels we saw come into use as duals in the late 60s. I believe these were around much longer than that and were used in applications wanting to keep weight down. I have seen tractors equiped with these for operating power equipment on peat moss farms. A particular series doesn't stand out, but can remember wheels like this may be as far back as 60s.
