Tom, Yes, could be the float bowl, metering jet, main jet - or anywhere along the fuel line. Could also be a condensor or just a bad connection in the primary wiring; if you check the other side of the tractor. Fun stuff - chasing down gremlins - but think of it this way: the tractor has no fuel pump, only a simple single throat carb, only 4 cylinders and no electronics. Troubleshooting your car would be 10 times the headache. Good luck with it.
