I was just about to post a note on this very same problem and I saw your note. I have a 1948 Cub (at least that's what the serial number says). I have the same problem. I go to my local IH dealer and they have sold me two rotors and neither look like this. I am beginning to think the mag/distributer may not be for a 1948. I sure would like to know more about this too. I have some badly worn teeth on the rotor and even a tooth missing on the metal gear. I should replace them both before putting it back together.
