JB Weld is a type of Epoxy to be sure but it NOT PLAIN OLD FASHIONED EPOXY!!
Try to do a repair job with standard epoxy and see how it holds up compared to JB Weld.
I am not a chemist but there is more to JB Weld than plain old epoxy.
