Farmall H magneto H-4 type

Just aquired a '41 H and it runs a little rough. Sputter and popping at idle and certainly under load.(sounds like the old johnny poppers) Also the 6-volt battery doesn't seem to hold a charge for longer than 2 weeks. I got a multimeter on the charging system and it is working fine. I don't know that much about Mags so I am thinking there is something wrong there. She will start hard, like the battery is down, after a couple of weeks and runs with a sputter. Reading thru my manuals etc. I suspect the magneto a little. What do you think?
