This block is a load check valve. It prevents the cylinder from drifting and extending under a load. It is a crucial saftey item. However, you can plumb around it with just some pipe couplings until you fix the leak on the block or find a new block. Any good hydraulic supply house can get you one. It probably won't look like the origional, but it will work. Just ask for a load check valve.
