Thats a good suggestion, the tip of that pointer just sticks out past the end of the crankshaft. The good news is that there is a 3/4" hole thru the pulley. So I took a piece of 3/4" steel rod and put a small hole in the end to go over the piece that sticks out the end of the crank. The 3/4" rod would then rest against the end of the crank to allow me to press the pulley off.
