300U steering issue

I have determined that I need to get a new steering (pitman) arm to go on my 300U. It has 2 different lenght arms and it steers horribly. Does anybody know: 1) where to find one, 2) if another model tractor arm is the same, 3) if i can cut and weld the one I have and it would be strong enough? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
