Was trying to mow hay yeaterday with a Farmall 200. Suddenly noticed a knocking sound that concerned me greatly. Limped back to the shop. Pulled the valve cover, everything appeared OK. Pulled the oil pan, everything appeared OK, then I found what looked like a gear tooth, at the front of the pan. Removed the governor to find the top timing gear which drives the governor and distributor was damaged, and missing 4 teeth. The large gear below which runs the cam had damage to three teeth on two different sides. What happened? Why the sudden failure? Anyone got a source of these gears, without spending an arm and a leg?
