There are 2 general widths, but an infinite number of possibilities. One is to set the rears 56" center to center. That is 28" from centerline of the tractor. To get this width, it is best to have the castings dished inward. You can also set them 60" center to center, or 30" to CL. You can get 30" CL and wider with the castings dished out, but you also have more axle showing. Weights are also easier to hang in the dished in position. It just depends on what you plan to do with the tractor. There is no right width. Thats why they're adjustable. I have my H set on 56" center to center as it fits the trailer better.
