Phil: Kinda hard to give lots of detail in a note but here are a couple ideas.. Hopeful its not just run befor you get there.. Start on gas should be straight foward.. I read where IHC average gas run time was 1 to 2 minutes (900turns). Opening diesel 1/3 should start smoke fairly evenly and cut off gas lever should kick over fairly quick..maybe 10 seconds to a noisy cold diesel sound( but even on all cylinders) Oil pressure should be high.. Look for tell tail blue smoke from valve guides.. any drop in oil pressure when warm isn't a great sign.. look for recent gasket changes or other repair around engine.. operate for 20-30 minutes if possible in 5 gear to warm it up and check evenness on smoke under load..in 5thgear..check brake action too..check for oil in radiator and anitfreez in oil.. welded cracked on engine.. say just pick me up and I'll help ..Take your time and don't let him rush ya.
