Marvin After you get it all cleaned up with baking soda, go to your local small airport where they work on smaller airplanes. They should have or be able to get for you a special paint used to coat the inside of battery boxes used on airplanes. It's called, ironicly enough, Battery Box Black Paint. It's really good stuff and not expensive. Also sometimes used to coat the bottom of floats on seaplanes. It has sort of a rubber base I think.
