HaycreekMN, you can do the job but you need to clean the wires of the cable by unwinding them a few inches and take a knife and scrape as much of the wire s as you can, twist them back up and dip the cable end in "cut" acid, then heat up and sop the solder to it. "Cut" acid is hydrachloric acid that has had zinc dissolved in it, an old zinc sealer lid will work, an ounce of acid and a piece of zinc, let the zinc dissolve and you will get a good solder job. "cut acid is really good for radiator work as well. Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
