6volt booster coil

I have a International 300 pos.to grnd.when I first hooked up the booster coil I hooked it hot wire to pos.post,found out later that it should be hot wire to neg. post.No fire to spark plugs. voltage to coil ignition switch on. I'm putting in new points and condenser.I'm getting 6 volts from center wire from coil,but it shows no voltage coming out when i spin the engine,icnition switch on.Getting 6 volts to neg.post,and 6 volts to pos.post,also voltage right to points. should I be getting 6volts from the center wire of booster?
