What does the flywheel look like? My 444 diesel has a delco remy starter. Y ou may wantt o take the starter apart and make sure the shift lever (connects to the solenoid) is connected to the drive gear properly. The shift lever has 2 "tabs" that fit into a grove on the drive gear. if it has jumped out it won't push the drive gear into the flywheel. The "tabs" may have worn out on the shift lever.
