To Engauge Or Not, That Is The Question

I have a 460 Utility that I use to pull my Brush Hog. My pasture is not hilly but is rough. 1st gear is too slow, 2nd gear is too fast. 2nd gear with T/A enguaged is perfect. My question; will running with the T/A enguaged cause any problems in the long run? I would really hate to have to replace the T/A someday! Thank you!
