About 30 years ago my Dad bought a used No. 100 balanced head Fast Hitch sickle mower. It mowed about 60 acres yearly for the first 15 years and quite a bit less the last 15. A couple days ago the wobble shaft sheared off at the belt pulley. We haven't checked out current availability and price yet but in the 1997 Case IH price book the price for the shaft kit (which includes shaft, bearings and a nut) was $750. This doesn't look like the simplest thing to replace either. Our first thought is that it's time to retire this mower. Any body ever have this happen or replaced a wobble shaft? Do any used parts exist out there? We would really appreciate any thoughts.
