Here is a web site that may be of help, http://www.oldengine.org/unfaq/10si.htm Also you didn't mention if it didn't start charging at idle or didn't charge at high idle. They have to turn fast enough it get them excited then they will charge at lower idle. Also we install a diode instead of the switch to stop feed back. Good luck Ralph
