had a dead 6v in the sm, a good 12v in a dead pickup, went to autozone and got a resistor for an 85 ram pickup, stuck it in the line opposite the one running up from the distributor base, hooked up the 12v and its charging around 10-15 amps over 1/2 throttle. Seems to me a 12v thats discharged is still going to put out more juice than a 6v, and all the components can balance out and run the voltage they're happy at. And if its all happy, i'm happy. Plus, electric motors, such as the starter, fall victim to low voltage faster than high voltage due to excess heat.
