Kevin: Ten years ago I changed my Farmalls Super A and 130 to alternator charging systems. Why, because I was fed up with that damn generator and regulator. I think I bought a bushel of those regulators. Super A has a 6 volt alternator and battery which I installed new 10 years ago. Both are original. I have replaced the battery cables since. 130 has a 12 volt alternator and is now on it's third new battery and second new alternator. Yes by all means I would convert to alternator but not 12 volt.
