Years ago I mounted a generator which had the cutout mounted on top (off an older C) to my 50 C which had the regulator under the generator. As a matter of fact it is still on it 30 years later. I simply put the screws in the holes where the cutout was and everything worked. I believe you should be able to simply change the pulleys around and be fine, but maybe someone else will have other experiences.
