Scotty. You have drawn a lot of commentary on your obsevation. Mowing grass has always been a time consuming job. There were the push mowers, then the ride ons that in a wind turn you green with grass stains. I guess one could go to a big money jobie with cab and air. Then you would just have to work harder to pay for it. A Mr Willard Ervin of Stewiake, Nova Scotia, Canada trained his driving horse in the 1920s to pick the grass around the house, what we normally call the lawn, not eat the flowers and ornamentals, not go on the road and make his manure and urine out behind the barn. Now that, my friends is an efficient lawn mower. I doubt that going on the road was much of a concern in the 1920s, given the speed of autos of the day. Another plus being when a horse eats the grass there will be no weeds.
