Originally your "H" was wired for 6 volt,Positive ground, so the wires would be backwards when changed over to 12 volt negitive ground. I remember in my younger days of hooking up a charger and charging an old battery backwards. When the tractor did fire up the battery gauge said the generator was discharging all the time. Ended up in re-placeing the battery anyway.
