To change direction of travel on low drum you removed ring gear and switched it to opposite side of pinion. This required gear shift to moved to side away from pinion shifting forks were not reversable and different set was required for each side(at least on H and M not sure on 300). This is true for low drum picker only on high drum direction was changed in special drop axles remove drop axles and mount wheels in normal way and tractor would travel forward. Most high drums were mounted on M or larger tractor 300 most likely was low drum. To chande high drum to forward travel high clearance you left drop axles in place and used reversing kit from low drum to get forward travel the tracor wae essentially reversed twice.
