5/16" grade 80 or 90 chain should withstand all a 484 will pull. If possible hook tractor as close to stump as possible so that you only have a couple feet of chain that is being pulled on. If 2 ft of chain does break it will drop on the ground. Never JERK the chain, pull evenly in 1st or 2nd gear LO. Be careful, keep your foot close to the clutch. If you are hooking a chain to the 3pt hitch drawbar, only raise the 3pt hitch to the hieght even with the PTO shaft. Good luck JB
