Allisrules, I have three of these IH gas start diesels and they all start very well. This style of diesel will not start directly on diesel unless like the previous post you have has the tractor running long enough to get the temp up to operating range. Those how use either to start them directly on diesel are head for a big repair bill as this will eventually destroy the piston. Either will get down into the ring groves and crack the lands. If you keep the ignition maintained these gas start diesels will fire and run on the first revolution. Let them run for 60 seconds and they will switch to diesel without problem. The reason they won't start up on diesel is the compression is only 15 to 1 which is to low to build enough heat to fire cold. Most direct start diesels are in the 21 to 1 range.
