Trying to decide whats the best way to fix this. Its on my 400, well was on my 400 its on my work bench right now. I priced a rebuilt and wow! they must be gold. $200 Heres what it does. When you push the started button the Solenoid kicks in and the motor tuns or at least you hear a reving sound. The Solenoid Also sticks open. Revs a bit and then finnaly lets loose. It did this for a wile before it wuit all together. 3 or 4 tries and it would catch. This is the kind that has the Solenoid on the starter and has a actuator arm the moves the starter gear in and out. Never saw one like that. Whats the poop on these should I tear into it or pony up the $200? Know any goos spots for parts or maybe a rebuilt one?
