Jim, I think your B engine is the same as my C ---someone will correct me if I'm wrong--- On my C, I couldn't find a pointer of any kind, so I took # 1 plug out and watched the piston come up to the top of the cylinder, then I looked at the rotor button to make sure it was pointing at the # 1 wire which is suppose to be at about the 2 o'clock position as you look at the top of the distributor. Then I watched the points to see when they opened and backed it up a little to the point where they were just getting ready to open and then tightened the distributor down enough that it wouldn't move on its own. After I replaced the cap and etc, it fired right up. After it was running, I moved the distributor each way until the engine ran best. I figure I might have to "tweak" it a little after I get all the tractor back together to actually use it. Hope this will help some ! Gary
