JB has hit most all the main points on getting it to knot and here are a couple more. I found that good twine that was left in the twine boxes over the winter would also cause problems. The other thing I did was polish the knotter bills. A rusty knotter would cause the twine to shred and start to build up the threads on the shaft that then had to be cut off. So at the end of the season I would take out the twine and store it in sealed plastic bags. I would also put a coating of grease on the knotters and put another plastic bag around the knotter and seal with rubber band. To work on the knotter or put on the bag you should remove the bottom bolt that secure it to the frame at the base. Once removed the knotter will swing up for easier access. I also stoned the knifes at the beginning of the season and also remove all the grease from the knotters before starting out.
