This is out of my "parts Manual for the Super C" A Suffix Letter Code, as outlined below, is added to the Chassis Serial Number as a means of identifying tractors with special features, thus facilitating servicing. This code applies primarily to special features that replace standard ports or units used internally but may also be used to identify tractors equipped with one of two or more optional ports wherein identification of said optional parts is deemed necessary to proper servicing. Each suffix letter used is stamped in the blank space following the serial number on the Chassis Serial Number Plate. Attachments that do not effect replacement of standard parts or units have not been coded. (Example: 100001BEJ represents a tractor with a 8000-Ft. High-Altitude Kerosene Burning Engine and Roclcford Clutch./ SUFFIX LETTER SPECIAL FEATURES OR OPTIONAL PARTS ON CHASSIS SERIAL NUMBER PLATE A DISTILLATE-BURNING ATTACHMENT B KEROSENE-BURNING ATTACHMENT D 5000-FT. HIGH-ALTITUDE ATTACHMENT E 8000-FT. HIGH-ALTITUDE ATTACHMENT J ROCKFORD CLUTCH

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
