For those following the continuing saga of my starting problems with my '51 Super A, here is the update. I went out this afternoon and removed the switch on top of the starter and hit all contacts with sandpaper to get them good and shiny, I rapped the starter several times with the hammer handle and cleaned all spark plug and coil contacts. I hooked everything back up and pulled the starter rod - ERRRRR, ERRRRR, ERRRRR!!! It sounded like the battery didn't have enough kick to crank the starter, so I jumped it with my truck battery and it fired right up! However, if it dies, the tractor battery alone is not enough to restart it and it has to be jumped again. I'm thinking I have a bad battery (or at least a bad cell in the battery). Am I right???
