There is a bit of overlap on tread width between dish in and dish out. I have forgotten exactly what tread widths, but aprox. 66 to 74 inches. Those tractors will twist axles when hub is out to the end of axle. They would do it back when they were new, and since that time a certain degree of metal fatigue will have set in. I would most definately run them with the dish out. High tractors like Farmalls need at least 72" wheel tread center to center, to give them good stability. Give some thought as to what could happen if you were moving at much speed and one of those axles broke. Not a pretty picture. I was luckey the axle on 300 just twisted a 1/4 turn and remained in tact. I have heard of guys having this happen and they are now fertilizing the daisy's.
