the first thing to check is the pto , will i power something or not , i am guessing that it won't and the hdy pump is not in the middel of the tractor with hoses hooked to it , it is behind the left step down in the rear left of the rear end housing. There are two reasons that come to mind ( one that the pto input shaft that is driven by the pressure plate is plum slap wore out and is slipping ) or ( two you sheared the key on the pump or the gear has broken)..
