C Clutch Issue Resolved (mostly)

All, Some of you may recall my posting from a week or so ago in which the clutch on a rebuilt '50 C seemed like it wouldn't disengage fully... http://www.ytmag.com/farmall/messages/388058.html Well, I have new results to report! (Most of 'em are good...) Big Don was right. When I blew the installation of the first engine, I bent the clutch disk. It was pretty clear once I got it out. I installed a new disk, made sure I had greased the pilot bushing, and put the tractor back together again. The clutch now works great! http://home.earthlink.net/~farmallfan/images/bent-clutch2.jpg It was bent to the extent that the inside hub was rubbing against the flywheel bolts. The bad news is that, in addition to the clutch disk, I bent the drive shaft too. Not a lot, but enough so that I could see the end bounce around when I had a neighbor rotate the PTO shaft. I can feel the vibration at higher RPMs... So, I'm now noodling over whether or not I want to find another shaft and swap it out. Anyone know if I have to remove the clutch housing from both ends in order to do that? So, thanks for everyone's input -- the C is back in business! (And, I'm getting really much better at putting a split tractor back together the *right* way.) - David
