I used my SMTA for a couple years also with TA not working on low side. I can't full 3 bottoms in 3rd by any means in my ground but it worked ok. The seasonal disconnect coupling on the pto broke and I had to split it to fix that. Decided while I had som much stuff off I might as well tear into TA also. I fixed mine with rebuilt ramp and roller setup from Steel Wheel Ranch. I went back to original type though you could get the Sprague type for a bit more money, was only around 100 for wht I got. My ta clutch was ok and so was other stuff in there so just needed seals and gaskets beyond ramp and roller. Put in new clutch disc and throwout bearing casue I was there. Fixed ta itself for about 150 I think. I am glad I did as it is real nice to have the lower gear within a range especially when pulling a baler. If you are not afraid of mechanics it isn't a bad job but I would get a service book and parts book first.
