A couple of years ago I had this problem with my C. Re-built it and it still leaked. We had it setting on my brothers metal work bench over night. Discovered that there was a hairline crack in the body that you couldn't see until you knew it was there. All of the gas from the float chamber had leaked out onto the work bench. Just a thought.
