There was a problem like this when I worked on the Doncaster transmission assembly line in 1976 on the 454, 574, 674 models which preceded the 584. Mounted on top the hydaulic lift housing was a flat valve called the unloader and flow control valve which was leaking on a good number of tractors. The leak was not due to the valve or the O rings but was caused by porosity in the lift housing casting at the machined surface where the valve fitted. It was fixed in the Doncaster foundry at that time but possibly still occurred on the the later 84 series which had the same design although I never heard of it. hope this is of help to you. Alan
