Jim: Your TA is toast, don't think it is quite as simple as Hick makes it sound. At least it wasn't 35 years ago. Tractor has to be split in two places. A rebuilt TA will run you $400. to $800.

There are cheap fixes but if your going to all that work of splitting tractor, you may as well put in all. Depends on your cup of tea, splitting a tractor every two years is not one of mine.
