You are wright it is confusing the way it is on the block. When #1 is lined up on fire should be in approx 2oclock your cap should be marked #1 there also. Now you did say dis. Mag is the same and rotor goes clockwise on both dist and mag. Take #1 plug out and make sure you are on compression and not exhaust stroke.
