I just bought an H but have not picked it up yet. On my M you find the compression stroke of the number 1 cylinder by putting your finger over the spark plug hole to sense the pressure. The mark on the front pulley should be close to the marker. The trick is to set the impluse coupling to trip at top dead center and for the rotor to be pointing at the #1 spark plug. You have to play with the ajustment to make it work. There are no marks on the gears and you don't need marks. Just turn the gears as needed.
