my 624 had a problem which I thought was the Hydraulic pump.
After reading articles on this site I realised it could be a plugged filter( I had lost power steering as well from the same pump).
The filter was really blocked, after a good clean and reassembly everything worked perfectly-and there was no noise!
I think you will find the problem fixed when all is back together. Good luck Alont
