Scott, The coil on a M or H will draw something a bit south of 4 amps max. The battery should have some type of total capacity rating on it, let's say it says 50 aH or 50 ampere hours. A little quasi scientific long division says 50/4 = 12.5 so you can run it for twelve and a half hours continuously. Just don't turn on the lights, and deduct 10 to 15 minutes everytime you start it (and it starts easily). So if you're in no hurry to fix the charging circuit and you never run it at night -- you can use it for 5 hours of work per month, then after 70 days put a 2 amp trickle charger on the battery for two days and be ready to go for another few months. Simple, huh? If you start fooling around at night, figure about 16 amps combined for the draw of the three lights in 6 volt flavor -- wait, change your bulbs to 12 now or you'll blow them. Actually, the 12V bulbs may draw a bit more, I've only measured the draw of the 6's on my H; so do a measurement so you'll know how to read your stopwatch to factor in lights.

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
