Griz this is quite common that an old Farmall will have leaked down and when you fill it to the proper level you think you have new leaks when in fact they are old ones. It is most likely one of two seals up under the belly pan where the lift all is located( or not..if you don't have a lift all the job just got easier) There are two seals off of the rear housing , one on the drive shaft and one on the lift all shaft. Undo the bolts on the drive shaft and lower it out of the way, using a pipe wrench undo the collar and the seal will be accessable( Both shafts have a collar) Your Case-I-H dealer still handles replacement seals which are about half the width of the original. Pick the old seals out and replace, then refill your rear end with gear oil. My one H was leaking only on the liftall shaft and I did the PTO shaft as well, my other H needed axle seals and PTO ..not an impossible job but will eat up a Saturday As is pointed out be carefull if you need to do axle seals.Block the tractor up good , getting the wheels off the axle is a toughie, I've done it alone but it would be better if a friend was there, clean the axle and rub it smooth and shiny with emery cloth, udo the housing bolts and pull the axle seal housing off, grease the axle up and slde the new seal in housing back on and rebolt..it took me about three hours to get the wheels off and a half hour to change the seals, then you have fresh rear gear oil and no leaks...good luck ding me if you need help...Mike in exeter Ontario
