Hello, You are right that elwood was a common front end on these tractors, but coleman had an mfd that was available as well. The Coleman seems to be obsolete. The Elwood was a better more nimble unit but the splines on the shafts and any moving piece was notorious for wearing out and failing. Salvage yards may have the parts needed to rebuild them but since the numbers were very limited and it has been 25 years parts would be tough to find and show much wear when you could get them. I have thought often of doing what you propose, but just haven't because of the trouble it would take to assemble everything and get the tractor operational. I hope you do it, it should be fun to watch.
