Steve, I use body puddy for little holes and pits in metal, they also call it green stuff, both come in tubes and can be bought in any auto parts store. For the bigger stuff I use bondo or or body filler, spead lightly over bad area, then sand and use the body puddy to get scatches and pits out. This takes alot of time and sanding, there is no easy way. Once i feel that i have gotton my body puddy done I prime it to see where it still needs to be filled in(ie; low spots on big area's) if every thing looks ok I wet sand it and reprime it. After I'm sure it's smooth and ready I put one more thin prime coat on, let it dry and shoot it with the final coat/cover coat. Your IH/Case dealer has good paint and the colors you want to spray any IH/Farmall tractor from a Cub up though H's or M's, etc, they also have the tinner for the paint and at a good dealer advise on how to mix it. Good luck, any more questions email me and i'll try to help ya out :-)
