As a young boy, I recall seeing the invoice for the new Farmall MD my Dad purchased around 1949. It was about $3200, big money in those days and several hundred dollars more than a Gas M, I think. I also recall my Dad being very upset when the diesel fuel price went from 8 cents to 10 cents a gallon. I think gasoline was around 18 cents. For light work such as raking hay, the MD used less fuel than the Super A.
