Rod, the cup backside is seated in a stepped bore and only a thin edge of the cup is exposed allowing a limited surface for the punch to contact in order to drive the cup out. Care must be taken to get the punch in the correct place in order to accomplish the task. I agree with the other post and I am of the opinion you will succeed in getting the race out. Post your results.
