Hugh is right. The Super A was designed to work on 6 volts and will. Mine starts excellent on 6. Just get the electrical system up to snuff and it will work fine. Of course the engine needs to run correctly to begin with. I switched my 300 over to 12 volts and really spent that money for no real benefit. It starts great either way.
