The starter drive has locked up in the teeth on the flywheel, it happens sometimes on older tractors when a little wear is present. Do what the other guys mentioned, probably won't happen again for a long time. If it does get to be a real problem, replace the starter drive, and take a good look at the teeth on the flywheel, if they are rather chewed up, replace that also. The flywheel teeth are part of a ring which is separate from the flywheel.
