I have about an 8 acre plot on the back of my farm that I don't think has ever been plowed or planted. I have an M that I used to work it over. I first used my 'Bush Hog' to cut down the grass and weeds that were quite high - about 4 feet. I then hooked up my tandem discs and pulled them through the plot a few times. This cut the sod and the roots pretty well. After a few days in the summer sun, the field got dry and brown. I then used my chisel plow to get some depth. The weeds were pretty established and I was afraid to plant something mid-season because I thought the weeds would take it over. I decided to spend the rest of the summer dragging the discs in that portion of the field to keep the weeds off. I will let winter settle on the field and then plant in the early spring. Just my two cents worth.
